It’s important to have attainable goals

Tuesday nights I teach at an extension of my place of employment that happens to be a private K-8 school. As it is a educational institution for younger folk, the hallways are decorated with outstanding homework and artwork by the students. I have a couple of short breaks throughout the evening, during which time I peruse the halls, examining the displays as I eat my PBJ.

One wall was covered with individually decorated paper soccer balls.  In each of the five white sections were places for the students to write their goals for the academic year: math, reading, science, behavior, and other. Several young students hoped to be able to read more quickly and to add together larger numbers. One young man, however, had an odd, yet more specific, goal:

Behavior Goal: to have more spit control.
